Two Nights Canoe Camping

A canoe is a vehicle and it's the perfect vehicle for accessing the Canadian wilderness. Here is your chance to learn canoe skills and to camp in a wilderness setting, far from civilization, without the extra effort of portaging. No experience is necessary and we won't have to be quite as vigilant about travelling light. We will be canoeing in Algonquin Provincial Park, which is 7,653 sq. km., more than three times the size of Luxembourg.  There is no cell phone service but we will carry a satellite phone in case of emergencies.

Planning is an important part of this trip. On confirming your booking, we will provide detailed instructions on how to shop for equipment and clothing, although major pieces of equipment will be rented, including canoes, life jackets, paddles, tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads. We will help coordinate the purchase and/or rental of other equipment and clothing so that you will have a comfortable and rewarding time.

You will be challenged by insects, weather, sore muscles, and learning new water skills. You might be challenged by silence, darkness, unfamiliar sounds, and a real sense of isolation. You will be rewarded with fresh air, clean water, beautiful sights of nature, and a feeling of strength and accomplishment from using only your arms to propel you into the woods overnight. You might be tempted to sign up for our one-night Bike Camping trip, the six-day journey down the Barron River, or even the 14 day trip The Canadian Shield.
